The Community Service Club Raises Money for NYC Public Schools

The Community Service Club is raising money to donate to the Fund For Public Schools. The Fund is a non-profit partner to the NYC Department of Education. “The kids wanted to help out their peers in NYC who haven’t been as lucky as them to be able to have returned for in-person learning until recently,” says Community Service Club Faculty advisor Ms. Dorfman. “This is an ongoing fundraiser until the end of the year.”

On March 23rd, 2020 the Fund For Public Schools quickly launched the NYC Schools COVID-19 Response Effort. Since then they have achieved success in providing exceptional care and learning for children of essential workers, strengthening literacy skills for our youngest learners, addressing mental health and investing in trauma-informed instruction, closing the digital divide and supporting remote learning, celebrating high school students and supporting their college and career readiness, providing meals to medically fragile students, supporting our most vulnerable students, ensuring a strong reopening, and investing in high-quality arts for students.

Donations can be made via Venmo to @becca-fraser, and students and faculty can also leave donations in Ms. Dorfman's, Ms. Brodsky's, or Ms. Stanley's mailbox. The Community Service Club will send all donations to the Fund For Public Schools. “It has been pretty incredible to see how passionate the kids in the club are about it,” says Ms. Dorfman.
