Student Life

At York Prep, the classroom extends beyond our campus. Students are immersed in the subjects they learn through local field trips to the Met, the American Museum of Natural History, the Morgan Library, Broadway, Chinatown, and beyond. The diverse selection of enriching venues all within blocks of York Prep allows students to experience these outings with their classmates and teachers on a regular basis.
York Prep students have also traveled beyond New York to attend events, including the Dodge Poetry Festival in Newark, New Jersey. Last March, upper school Spanish students traveled to Puerto Rico during Spring Break. Accompanied by Spanish teachers Ms. Pevzner and Mr. Rossi, the students explored the historic towns of Old San Juan and Ponce, aided in community service projects, learned salsa dancing, hiked and swam in El Yunque Rainforest, took an eco-boat tour of La Paguera, and relaxed on the beach in El Cabo Rojo. This summer, upper school students also ventured out on an 11-day trip to China, where they traveled across four cities: Beijing, Chengdu, Dujiangyan, and Shanghai.
