Rebecca Buchwald

Jump Start and Reading/Writing Teacher Rebecca Buchwald studied at Syracuse University earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Inclusive Elementary and Special Education, with a minor in Disability Studies, as well as certifications for Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities. After graduating and moving to New York City, Ms. Buchwald began her career as an elementary special education teacher, specializing in students with language based learning disabilities, while also getting her Master’s Degree in Literacy through SUNY Albany.

After working at the Gateway School, Ms. Buchwald soon found a passion for working with an older population with learning differences and came to York Prep in 2019. This is now Ms.Buchwald’s fourth school year here! Outside of school, you can find Ms. Buchwald singing in her choir, spending time with family and friends, or watching Netflix. Ms. Buchwald is excited to continue her work at York Prep, where she teaches 6^th grade Reading and Writing skills and coaches her students to be strong self-advocates and independent learners.
