Profile of a Graduate

When students graduate from York Prep having experienced and explored the full range of our curriculum, they will have attained a solid foundation to achieve their maximum potential intellectually, socially, and physically. They will be prepared to successfully face the challenges of college and beyond as lifelong learners and responsible members of their communities.

York Prep graduates will have

  • been actively engaged in the learning process;
  • developed the skills and understanding to recognize and employ their own learning styles so as to become capable self-advocates;
  • acquired collaborative skills through participation in the classroom and in the community life of the school;
  • built resilience through meeting challenges in the pursuit of their “personal best”;
  • experienced and been motivated by numerous instances of academic success
  • been accepted to colleges well suited to their individual abilities and aspirations.

York Prep graduates will be

  • able to think critically, analytically, creatively, and reflectively;
  • competent in appropriately applying prior knowledge, analysis, synthesis, and logic to solving problems and making well informed decisions;
  • proficient in researching, organizing, and presenting information orally and in writing in a timely fashion;
  • accustomed to employing disciplined work habits and effective study skills;
  • ethically aware and literate;
  • adept in the use of technology to support, enhance, and transform their academic pursuits;
  • cognizant of the importance of emotional and physical health;
  • open, respectful, and empathetic to diversity
  • capable of and interested in actively contributing to the well-being of their communities, their country, and the world at large.
