8th Graders Took A Bite Out Of Books In York Prep’s First Ever Edible Book Festival

Every spring, book enthusiasts, schools, and libraries worldwide come together to commemorate their love of books and tasty treats through Edible Book events. On March 17th, York Prep held its inaugural Edible Book Festival, where 8th-grade English students from Ms. Ziller's and Ms. Umansky's classes crafted an "edible book" based on a favorite story of their preference. Each entry was exhibited and eventually consumed!

Highlights from this year’s entries include "Small Spices" by Eva Baker, "Charles Chickens'" by Felix Del Aguila, "And Then There Were Crumbs" by Andrew Lebeau Toung, "A Tale of Two Cookies" by Saige Moodie, "The Tell-Tale Tart" by Ms. Ziller, and "Wuthering Bites" by Ms. Umansky. Eighth-grade students then voted on their favorite entries and awards were given to "And Then There Were Applesauce Bath with Vera" and "Lombard" by Katie Gaffigan for Best Pun, "Ugly Love" by Julie Silver for Most Creative, and "Peppa Pig" by Rory O'Neill for Most Appetizing.
