Undefeated Girls Varsity Volleyball

by Colin Horn

Girls Varsity Volleyball came into the gym in August to begin preparing for what would be an exceptional season. After a competitive tryout the roster consisted of 18 players. They generously shared the court with one another, and worked hard over the course of the season to learn how to run a 5-1 offense. Despite a lot of moving pieces, and girls being forced to play different spots in the rotation from game to game, they dominated their league and finished undefeated.

Although the overall improvement of the team from start of regular season to end was formidable, it was just shy of earning them a spot in the semi-finals. The team lost to LREI in a well-fought and exciting five set game, played in our home gym on Monday, October 24th. Despite this loss, the success of their season has earned them a spot in a higher division for next season where they will have to overcome the loss of senior starters Riley Jacobsen, Jadyn Sardoff, Riley Unterberg, and Valeriya Vinnichenko. They are looking forward to growing in a more competitive environment and playing against new teams next season.
