Rube Goldberg Machines

Ms. Young’s high school STEAM: Design Thinking classes recently learned about cartoon artist Rube Goldberg and how his early career as a mechanical engineer influenced his humor and style.
They were then asked to build chain-reaction machines with at least five transitions that lasted for at least 10 seconds from start to finish. Each machine carried a set of goals including popping a balloon, filling a cup with marbles, hitting a target, and turning on a light.
