The Power of Upcycling
In Mrs. Haberman’s 12th-grade Honors Environmental Science class, a project on Waste Management turned students into innovative entrepreneurs and green publishers! “Their assignment was to learn about up-cycling and think of a product that should be upcycled, what they would upcycle it into, and how to bring their idea to fruition,” says Mrs. Haberman. “They really impressed me with their creativity!”
Rehannah Baksh, Ming Robinson, and David Scheuer created a business plan for an airplane hotel. Greta Kobus, Jack Fedder, and Dennis Heizer created a fun new casual dining concept called Big Bussin’ BBQ, which turns a school bus into a restaurant. See the full plan, along with the menu here.
Jenna Saevitzon and Izzy Veyssi published Two Girls Turn Trash into Treasure, which is a piece about upcycling old athletic equipment into furniture.
