Claims, Evidence, and Scientific Writing
Ms. Borden’s eighth-grade science students practiced backing up their claims with evidence using the New York Times “What’s Going on in this Picture” section. After reviewing uncaptioned photos from the Times, students made a claim then proved their claims by pointing out the evidence in the photos. This process helped them to practice writing in science, and adequately backing up their claims.
