York’s Performing Arts Department Presents Another Hit

The lights dim, the music starts and the year is 1927. Just outside of Jimmy Winter’s raucous bachelor party three bootleggers named Billie, Cookie, and Duke are wondering where to hide 400 cases of gin. And just like that, York Prep’s 2016 Spring Musical was already off to an entertaining start when 7:00 pm rolled around on this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. “Nice Work If You Can Get It” was met with wild laughter, copious applause, and a great deal of enjoyment by all who were lucky enough to get a ticket. A mix of slapstick comedy, romance, ritz, and criminal activity, this rather new musical is set to the music of Ira and George Gershwin including songs like “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “’S Wonderful.”

Indeed, after seeing it, everyone wanted to congratulate Chair of the Performing Arts Department Fiona Hutchison and Director John Viscardi as well as the entire cast for putting on such a “wonderful” and “marvelous” show. Principal Stefanie Lopez had nothing but positive things to say about the production and those involved. “I simply marvel at the talent that our students possess and the transformation that ensues once they step on stage. The show was non-stop laughter and delight. The music was phenomenal and members of the audience were literally swaying back and forth, singing along to the classic Gershwin tunes.”

Congratulations to all of the students who dedicated so much of their free time and hard work towards making the show such an amazing success!
