Ms. Ruan was invited to present at the National Chinese Language Conference at San Diego this year. The National Chinese Language Conference (NCLC) provides a high-profile platform for sharing new ideas and best practices in the fields of Chinese language teaching and learning, Chinese arts and culture, and U.S.-China educational exchange. She organized a panel with four other Mandarin teachers to talk about race, sex and gender in the American Chinese language classroom. Her topic is focused on addressing the discriminations and stereotypes in the Chinese language. Currently, Professor Robin Harvey from NYU Steinhardt Department of Teaching and Learning has invited Ms. Ruan to speak at NYU sharing more thoughts and ideas of teaching Mandarin.
