Students Share Talent in Out Loud Mid-Winter Showcase

When the clock struck 5:00 p.m. on the evening of Thursday, February 15, the chapel was filled with students ready to perform. English teacher Mr. Ethan Pennington welcomed everyone to the 6th Annual Out Loud Midwinter Showcase. As in years past, this showcase celebrated the students of York Prep and all of the individual talents they posses. Be it singing, writing, playing music, or acting, Out Loud allows them to share their voices. With Out Loud, students who have stories to tell get to shout them loudly which was exactly the purpose of this showcase.

Organized with the help of club Co-Presidents, sophomores JessieJean Newman-Getzler and Sariah Johnson, eight very talented students presented either their own original works or performed covers of songs that move them. Popular songs like “Liability” by Lorde or “I Could Have Danced All Night” from My Fair Lady, were just some of the performances. Any students interested in developing their own voice or performing their work can attend club meetings during lunch on Mondays in Room 325. All are welcome to do their part in helping Out Loud promote community through the arts at York Prep.
