Spring Art Show Displays Wide Array of Talent

On the afternoon of Thursday May 4th, York Prep presented the opening of the annual Spring Art Show. The art department invited everyone to share in the joy of the creative spirit at York Prep. Students in every art class produced the thoughtful and awe-inspiring artwork on display. Can you say eye-catching?

Visitors feasted their eyes on drawings, paintings, prints, digital arts, photography, and ceramics, in addition to mixed-media works. There was even a chance to play actual student designed video games. In one section, prints from Ms. Emily-Greta Tabourin’s digital photography club were on display too. And throughout, viewers got a peak of senior portfolio arts too, all as part of the culmination of a fine year in fine arts.

Whether they stayed five minutes or the entire time, guests were warmly welcomed by art teachers Mrs. Lina Akula, Mr. Karl Hartman, and Mr. Gary Schwartz. In addition, light refreshments were served throughout the evening just like your typical downtown art gallery. Everyone praised the art show and, most of all, celebrated the artists. Furthermore, the show was so enjoyable, that it was decided everything should stay up an extra day. Talk about success!

As a result, Friday saw students directed down from their respective classes to view the show. Associate Head Mr. Art Viscusi was particularly impressed by this year’s pieces. “The paintings are wonderful, the photography is brilliant, the sculptures are dazzling, and the tech projects are astounding!”
