Rooftop Undergoes Cool Weather Prep

The Environmental Club, Gardening Club, Community Service Club, and Beekeeping Society joined forces on October 18 to get York Prep’s rooftop garden ready for the fall season.

After transplanting into pots the annual plants that will not survive the cold weather, students will be bringing them into classrooms for the winter months.

With a little help from Mrs. Stark’s green thumb, the students also trimmed and pruned the perennial plants to get them ready for frigid temperatures.

The Beekeeping Society harvested another 80 pounds of honey from the York Prep hives and installed feeders for the bees to build up their winter food supply.
