On the afternoon of Thursday, February 12th, the York Prep Middle School basketball team laid claim to the ISAL championship title. This group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders worked diligently all season long in preparation for this win. The game against Birch Wathen Lenox was won well before the fourth quarter got under way, but that didn’t stop these panthers from giving it their all until the very end.
While their coaches, science teacher Mr. Jeremy Arnstein and physical education teacher Mr. Hayden Morris, taught them the plays and skills necessary for success, their classmates cheered them on. The encouragement of family and friends in the stands made the Pantherdome the perfect place to become the 2015 champions. In celebration of this exciting achievement, both a plaque and a banner will be put on display in the gym.
Fans of the Middle School basketball team who missed the big game can all look forward to the St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf Tournament the weekend after Mid-Winter Break. The team will be playing on Saturday, February 28, and Sunday, March 1. Hopefully, with another great win, York will close out the winter sport season and bring on the spring. Congratulations and good luck Panthers!
