Now that school is back in session and well underway, the common question is “what did you do this summer?” While many students and teachers alike, tend to use the roughly ten weeks of summer break to travel and relax, others keep busy by spending the time working.
Junior Zeyu Shen returned to China over the course of his summer break but the trip was not a vacation. Like many college-bound high school juniors, Zeyu opted to use the time wisely, improving his skills and practicing his craft. Thus it was certainly a productive and busy summer for Zeyu, who ultimately performed two major concerts in China.
In August, Zeyu participated in the annual Qingdao International Music Festival. This festival includes a Master Class summer camp attended by the best teachers and students in the country. Led by Art Advisor Sheng China and Artistic Director Tong Weidong, the festival’s Strings Masterclass, Clarinet Masterclass, and other activities culminate in many concerts.
Zeyu also worked with the Tian Jin Symphony performing “No. 2 Piano Concerto” by Russian virtuoso pianist, composer, and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff. See below a short video clip of Zeyu’s amazing performance.
