Ranked 1st in the Metropolitan Division, the New York Rangers went head-to-head against the Arizona Coyotes on the evening of Sunday, October 23. Before landing their second win of the weekend with a score of 3-2, the Rangers invited a very special person to sing the national anthem at the start of the game. York Prep Junior Caroline Watters has been singing for years, performing in plays and various York events since enrolling in the sixth grade. She was, no doubt, thrilled to have the opportunity to sing for the National Hockey League and an audience of thousands.
But even more important that the audience is the cause. Sunday night’s Rangers game was dedicated to the fight against cancer so it was quite an honor for Caroline, a cancer survivor herself, to perform the nation’s anthem prior to the game for Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Madison Square Garden. The Garden of Dreams Foundation works with The Madison Square Garden Company and MSG Networks Inc. to positively impact the lives of children facing obstacles. We at York are so proud of Caroline for playing a part in such an important night! Congratulations!
