Headmaster Named a Distinguished Leader in Education

Overlooked by a giant elephant head, New York City’s finest educators gathered within the grand hall of the Harvard Club on West 44th Street on the morning of Wednesday, June 24. At the behest of Education Update, one of the foremost newspapers on education in New York and New Jersey, teachers, principals, and superintendents from a vast array of private and public schools from each borough attended an annual breakfast to celebrate the”Outstanding Educators of the Year.”

This year, the ceremony included a special recognition of six distinguished leaders in education including Dr. Merryl H. Tisch of the New York State Board  of Regents, Mr. Ernest Logan of the Council of School Supervisors & Administrators, Dr. Carmen Fariña of the New York City Department of Education, Dr. David Steiner of the Hunter College School of Education, Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng of the University of Hawaii, and York’s very own Mr. Ronald P. Stewart.

Typically, the event provides medals and certificates to the Outstanding Educators of 2015 and the accolades of peers, colleagues, family and education leaders. In the past it has garnered the attention of local newspapers and television affiliates so that those teachers and administrators who have proven themselves to be the backbone of New York’s educational system receive the recognition they deserve. In the case of Mr. Stewart, the recognition is indeed well deserved and the York Prep community is happy to congratulate him on such an achievement.

For more information about the ceremony and the other educators honored that morning, keep your eyes peeled for the July/August issue of Education Update or  check  out their website.
