The talented cast and crew of York Prep’s production of Grease, under Director Maria Getz and Musical Director Sheri Martucci-Cicero, earned wholehearted applause and praise for their enthusiastic presentation of this enjoyable musical on May 11 and 12.
The musical starred veteran student actors as well as newly discovered performers, including Gabe Skoletsky as Danny, Molly Model as Sandy, Weston Gerlach as Kenickie, Francesca Pedersen as Rizzo, Cole Lumpkin as Roger, Alex Jankousky as Frenchy, and Daniel Arias as Doody.
Singers and dancers delighted the audience with their interpretation of “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightning,” “Born to Hand Jive,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” and “We Go Together.” Tenth grader Taryn Briskin, who played Marty, used her dance background and skills to develop a rousing choreography for “You’re the One That I Want.”
“It was great watching the students come into their own and grow as performers and technicians,” said Ms. Getz.
“Everyone came together as a team to create a great end product,” said Gabe, a junior. “Although it was hard work, it was a fun experience and a memory I will always cherish when I think back to my time at York.”
