Girls’ Varsity Volleyball Sweeps the Competition

The York Prep Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team had its first ever undefeated season with a win over Little Red/Elisabeth Irwin (25-20, 24-26, 25-14) in the championship match on Thursday, October 30.

York won regular season play with a perfect 10-0 record and defeated Churchill in two straight games in the semi-finals to move on to the championship game.

The victory extends York’s winning tradition, making it three championships in the last three years.  Captains Charlotte Scott and Julia Dolan led the team to victory with solid offensive and defensive play. York’s unstoppable offense, driven by setters Julia Dolan and Anna Lieberman, overwhelmed all York’s opposition. Outstanding efforts from Kat Blais, Charlotte Scott, Honour Masters, and Marissa Velasquez delivered York’s third consecutive championship.

The team’s success was the result of its depth and the contributions of all the players. Taylor Brown helped anchor York’s defense while hitters Alex De La Vega and Lindsey Paul as well as back-up setter Tal Levy provided additional offense when needed.

York looks to continue its volleyball dominance next year with the help of Nikki Slesin, Willa Baker, and Rebecca Siegel.
