Accompanied by their teacher Ms. Grimes and various teacher chaperones, ninth grade Physical Science students enjoyed a full day on May 5 aboard the historic USS Intrepid, a retired aircraft carrier docked on the Hudson River now housing the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
As students toured the vessel, they learned about the Intrepid’s service during World War II, enjoyed interactive exhibits, viewed aircraft on the Flight Deck, and visited the Growler Submarine.
“The complexity of the ship amazed me,” said Jonah. “I was surprised that there were aircraft simulators inside the ship, which is like having amusement rides in a museum,” said fellow freshman Jordan.
Students also participated in a workshop that introduced them to the physics behind flight and the field of aviation.
