The eyes of the entire world were on the Rio games this summer, when America was able to bring 121 olympic medals home. Four of those medals were from fencing. During the competitions, twenty two year old Alexander Massialas became the first U.S. man to win two individual fencing medals at the Olympic Games since 1932.
York Prep student Ethan Kushnerik, follows in Massialas footsteps as a competitive fencer himself. On August 23, Ethan won the 2016 Pan Am Fencing Championship in beautiful Ponce, Puerto Rico in the men Eppe category. USA Fencing, the national governing body for the sport of fencing in the United States and a member of both the United States Olympic Committee and International Olympic Committee, currently ranks Ethan number one in the nation in his age group.
Way to go Ethan! We look forward to seeing you in the Olympics one day!
