Have you ever felt like dropping everything just to read? Well that’s how Ms. Butterworth appealed to students interested in the middle school book club, D.E.A.R., at the Clubs and Activities Fair to a roaring round of applause. The fair, which was held during 7th period on Thursday, October 1, brought the entire school into the Pantherdome for a display of all the extra-curriculars York has to offer. The fair boasted the over 40 clubs being offered this year including everything from classics, like the school yearbook, to originals like Out Loud, or new standouts like the Girls Who Code Club and crowd favorites like Mr. Stewart’s Ukulele and Guitar Club.
The clubs and activities fair was also an opportunity to highlight York Athletics and the teams that will be fielded this year. However, if the over 20 sports teams available don’t quite satisfy a student’s need to win, those interested in a little friendly competition, can try Yahtzee with the Chess, Backgammon & Games Club or even try a new challenge like the trapeze. No matter where a student’s interests lie, York Prep School makes it easy enough for them to follow their passions.
After the fair students were all able to sign up for the clubs they found most interesting with the use of an online survey available via Edline. With all the options available to them it’s a wonder these students haven’t had a harder time narrowing down their choices. Parents might have to get used to seeing a little less of their kids with all of the time these students will be spending on fun new activities.
