Boys Varsity Baseball and Boys Varsity Volleyball Teams Off to a Roaring Start

For most people, April 6, 2006, was just another ordinary day, but at York Prep the day marked a new chapter in its athletic history with the debut of the school’s first Boys Varsity Baseball Team and Boys Varsity Volleyball Team.

Although one would think that 37 years was a long time, the wait was well worth it. Our Boys Varsity Baseball team, under Coach Doug Hill, opened against the Browning School and, like magic, emerged victorious 11-2. Our Boys Varsity Volleyball Team, under Coach Chris Durnford, played very well against Monsignor Scanlan High School, continuing the roar of the Panther.

The day ended under sunny blue skies with the York Prep Panthers eating donuts and drinking Gatorade after their games, never blinking an eye that they were part of history.
