Volleyball player Jennah Degout and soccer player AJ Levene are September’s Athletes of the Month!
The two have gotten the fall athletic season off to the right start, helping to build team spirit and community throughout their respective sports and school. These athletes have both dedicated their time and energy to being their very best and helping their teammates be the best they can be too. Athletic Director, Peter Bianco as well as their respective coaches have nothing but positive things to say about September’s Athletes of the Month whose profiles were displayed in the Pantherdome just this past week.
Senior of the Boys Varsity Soccer team has scored a scorching hot 13 goals in the month of September. His performance helped the team cap off a 4-1 record in the month. As a leading senior, he creates a sense of guidance, creativity, and unity throughout the team. His passion to play and tenacity for the game of soccer creates the perfect balance here at York Prep. His performance is worthy of the first Athlete of the Month Award for Males this season.
As an 8th grader on the Varsity Volleyball team, she has developed into a force to be reckoned with for years to come. She shows great leadership on the court, courage and persistence as well as a display of power with her hitting ability. She was a key component in York’s win against Steiner and York sees her playing a crucial role in all of our games to come. She is an athlete who can play and excel at any position on the court and she creates a difficult serve to receive for the other team. In addition to her incredible volleyball skills, she displays excellent sportsmanship and supports her team both on and off the court. She is the Month of September’s Female Athlete of the Month.
