Art Teacher Selected for Blue Mountain Gallery Show

After submitting artwork samples for 10 years to Blue Mountain Gallery in Chelsea, York Prep art teacher Gary Schwartz finally hit the mark. The following painting will be included in the Juried Summer Show from July 10 – 28 at Blue Mountain Gallery:

Blue Mountain Gallery is pleased to announce its Summer Juried Show featuring 34 artists from all over the United States. The juror, John Yau, selected pieces in a range of styles from over one thousand entries. Yau is an art critic and curator as well as a distinguished poet, recently winning the prestigious 2018 Jackson Poetry Prize. He has authored monographs on Philip Taaffe, Thomas Nozkowski, Catherine Murphy, and many other artists, contributing essays to many catalogues and museum publications. He has written for Art in America, Artforum, Art News, New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Art Press and in 2012 helped start the online journal, Hyperallergic Weekend, where he frequently posts reviews. His work is included in many anthologies of poetry, fiction, and criticism, and has been translated into French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Chinese. A recipient of awards and fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, National Endowment of the Arts, Academy of American Poets, New York Foundation of the Arts, Ingram Merrill Foundation, and the General Electric Foundation, he has been named a Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government. Yau will be present at the opening reception on Thursday, July 12th from 5 to 8 PM.
