Sixth Grade Class Learns How to Create Digital Music in Apple Workshop
In early November, Performing Arts Chair Fiona Hutchison, music teacher Coty Cockrell, and dance teacher Lance Martin took the York Prep sixth grade class on a fieldtrip to the Apple store to participate in a hands-on, digital music creation workshop.
The Apple team workshop leaders walked the students through the steps for creating music on iPads, and at the end of the workshop students were able to share their work with the class. Each student worked on individual projects and created rock, electric dance music, and hip hop pieces.
The students had a great time, and enjoyed this introduction tomaking digital music on a mobile iOS platform. Mr. Cockrell will continue to lead the students on similar projects throughout the year in music class.
