Education: St. Edward’s University – B.A.; Fairfield University – M.A.T.
History teacher Michael Roper has been in the classroom for 58 years. During that time, he has not always been a History teacher; in fact, most of his career has been as a Director of Guidance Services and College Placement. Mr. Roper’s first teaching position back in 1961 was in the field of Theology and Ethics. What has kept him going for all these years is that he has moved around in education, teaching from Speech and Geometry to Constitutional Law and History.
Mr. Roper’s interest in the History of New York City is manifested by the popularity of his tours of the City for both students and parents. In his day, Mr. Roper was a semi-pro baseball umpire; this may account for his fairness as a teacher.
