Kalyn Higgins

Education: University of Pennsylvania – MS.Ed. ; Rutgers University, New Brunswick – B.A.

Jump Start teacher Kalyn Higgins earned her BA in English Literature at Rutgers University, minoring in Art History and Education. Ms Higgins went on to pursue her graduate degree in Reading/Writing/Literacy at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. At the Penn GSE, Miss Higgins worked as a graduate associate for Penn Literacy Network.

She earned her MS.Ed in Reading/Writing/Literacy, as well as teaching certifications for PK-12 Reading Specialist and 7-12 English instruction. Prior to joining York Prep, Ms Higgins was an Academic Language Therapist (ALT) for elementary dyslexic students at Rawson Saunders School in Austin, Texas. Miss Higgins has received training in Orton-Gillingham reading programs and has served students with language-based learning disabilities.

Her hobbies include practicing yoga, playing tennis, reading, and creative writing. Ms Higgins is passionate about literacy education and is dedicated to building healthy relationships, inspiring students, and positively impacting her community.
