Joanne Walsh

Education: The College of White Plains – B.S.; Long Island University – M.L.S.

Librarian Joanne Walsh earned her B.S. from The College of White Plains and her Masters of Library Science from Long Island University. In addition, she achieved National Board Certification in Library Media/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood in 2007, which she found to be even more difficult to earn than the Masters Degree.

Prior to becoming a librarian, Ms. Walsh worked in the air transport industry with Brink’s Inc. and FEDEX, where she was involved in some pretty interesting events.  Ask her about the Iranian hostage release in 1981 or when the airlines lost John McEnroe’s gold tennis racket. Since then, however, she has worked in libraries in both public and private schools in Virginia and New York.

Her interests include reading, history, and genealogy, for which she continues to expand her skills and knowledge through classes and workshops.  A few years ago she completed a certificate course through Boston University and is presently continuing this education with an online course.
