Education: Washington University in St. Louis – B.A.; Fordham University – M.S.ED.
Jump Start teacher Jennifer Casriel is a native New Yorker. Ms. Casriel graduated from Washington University in St. Louis where she earned a BA in psychology. After developing a passion for working with struggling students in inner city St. Louis, she was inspired to become a teacher and attended Fordham University where she received her MSED in special education with a focus in learning disabilities.
During her 20 year career, Ms. Casriel has taught in the middle and upper divisions at a few NYC private schools, including Stephen Gaynor, York Prep, and Packer. Regardless of the setting, the focus of Ms. Casriel’s work has always been on helping her students to identify their strengths and use those to directly address the challenges they are having. Goal setting is at the heart of the work she does with students as little else is as rewarding professionally as when students feel proud of their accomplishments and are empowered. Ms. Casriel is thrilled to be rejoining the faculty at York Prep! Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children, exploring NYC by scooter, reading, expressing herself creatively, watching Netflix, volunteering at a local hospital, and travelling.
