Hilary Hersh

Education: Yale University – B.A.; Columbia University School of Journalism – M.S.; Fordham University – M. Ed.

Hilary is thrilled to join York Prep this year as a middle school English teacher and writing specialist. Originally from Vermont, she remains passionate about everything having to do with the Green Mountain state. Still, once she got a taste of New York as a grad school student, she never left. Her first career was as a journalist and author, specializing mostly in business. After switching to teaching in 2001, she taught at New York independent schools Trevor Day School and Leman Manhattan Preparatory School.

Over the years, Ms. Hersh has moved up the grades from kindergarten to fourth, fifth and now seventh grade. At York, in addition to teaching English, she is working with teachers on writing instruction. In addition to her love for teaching, Ms. Hersh enjoys playing guitar, reading, practicing a variety of sports and spending time with her husband and son. Ms. Hersh is the proud parent of a York Prep grad.
