Michelle Bolanos

Jump Start teacher Michelle Bolanos is a passionate and enthusiastic teacher in the fields of general and special education. Ms. Bolanos received her B.S. in Elementary Education, her M.S. in Childhood Special Education, and her M.S. in Teaching Literacy to students in both Birth-Grade 6 and Grades 5-12 at Touro College. Ms. Bolanos has extensive experience in teaching students from diverse backgrounds, as well as varying age levels and abilities.

This is Ms. Bolanos’ third year as a Jump Start teacher at York Prep and her second year as the 9th grade Reading & Writing teacher. Ms. Bolanos also taught sixth and seventh-grade study skills at York Prep. Prior to teaching at York, Ms. Bolanos taught fifth-grade math, sixth-grade reading and writing, and seventh-grade reading and writing for students with learning disabilities and at-risk students at Uncommon Schools in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Before that, she was an assistant teacher at an inclusive second-grade classroom at The Child School on Roosevelt Island.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Bolanos was the community service coordinator leading various volunteer opportunities for students, families, and staff to help their community. Ms. Bolanos has also taught children’s yoga for Lil Yogi’s NYC in upper Manhattan. In her free time, Ms. Bolanos enjoys traveling to new and exciting places, spending time with family and friends, reading, skiing, hiking, and practicing yoga.
