Bilingual teacher Christian Abreu is a native of Brooklyn, NY; yet his family roots lie in the Dominican Republic. While attending Teachers College, Columbia University, Mr. Abreu gained valuable teaching experience right here at York Preparatory School to earn his master’s degree in American Sign Language. Presently, he is teaching Spanish and American Sign Language in the middle and upper school. Mr. Abreu comes to York with a myriad of work experiences from educational departments such as the New York Board of Education and Brooklyn College.
Mr. Abreu is now focusing his career solely on American Sign Language to follow his passion. Currently, Mr. Abreu is applying to LaGuardia’s Community College interpreting program to enhance and expand his professional work within the Deaf Community.
During the summer months, Mr. Abreu enjoys taking cruises to explore new places, learning Mandarin and spending time with his family.
