History 11: Advanced Placement United States Government

This honors course the equivalent to an introductory college course in the study of American Government and Politics, and is meant to prepare students for the Advanced Placement Exam in U.S. Government and Politics. The course of study begins with a look at the Constitutional underpinnings of the American system. From there, the course will examine the political beliefs and behaviors of the American people. The longest unit of study examines the structure, roles, and incentives of the different branches of the American government, including the bureaucracy. The final two units include an examination of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties in the United States and a study of the ways in which citizens of the United States can influence the decisions made by their government
