York Prep is still accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year on a rolling basis. Please contact the admissions team for more information at admissions@yorkprep.org
York Prep seeks motivated students who can benefit from our challenging, personalized, and current curriculum. We give special weight to not only the academic accomplishments of students but also their personal character: students who share our values of caring, responsibility, trust, and fairness.

Applicants are urged to apply by January 11th for February ISAAGNY notification. Applications received after this date will be considered according to the space available.

We are currently accepting applications for Grades 6-12.
Please contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!

Admissions Step-by-Step

List of 7 items.

  • 1. Attend an Open House (Optional)

Learn more about upcoming York Prep Open Houses here.

We understand space is limited. Families are able to complete the application and schedule an interview prior to attending an open house.
  • 2. Submit the Application

Submit the application, including the application fee section, online.

The application requests a photograph of the applicant. We prefer a photo that clearly shows the candidate’s face.
  • 3. Arrange for Testing

For the 2024-25 admissions year, York Prep is test-optional. Applicants can take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) or the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT).  You must list York Prep as a school to which you want scores sent. Our school codes are:
    ISEE: 336555
    SSAT: 8398
  • 4. Request a Transcript

Request a transcript from the applicant’s current school.

The form makes it possible for academic records to be sent to us. The transcript we receive should include work from the fall term, as well as all work from the previous year or years.
  • 5. Reference Forms

Plan to ask your current teachers of English and Math, as well as your guidance counselor/dean to fill out the reference forms.

You do not need to make this request until you have scheduled an interview. You can obtain the reference form after you submit an application.

We would like the references to be completed very late in the fall or very early in winter. You are welcome to submit additional references.
  • 6. Educational Evaluation

You must submit with your application a current (within two - three years) educational evaluation in order to be eligible for the Jump Start program. If the evaluation is not current, we will request an updated version.

  • 7. Tour and Interview

We must have received your completed application form before an interview can be scheduled. You will be able to self select an interview time slot through the application portal.
