As a well-rounded private school in New York City, we offer a wide range of sports. In fact, the variety of athletic activities at York Prep is unequaled by any other school of its size.

Students choose from competitive or non-competitive activities such as basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball, soccer, swimming, track, tennis, cross-country track, fencing, and golf. York Prep’s varsity-level teams include baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball. There are junior varsity and Lower School teams as well.

As the many trophy cases attest, York Prep's teams are leading competitors and winners in their respective leagues. The boys' varsity basketball team frequently has been the reigning champion in its league and won the New York State Private School Championship in 1992. The girls' volleyball team has also held its own against teams from private high schools in New York.

York Prep is a member of the Independent Schools Athletic League, the Girls' Independent Schools Athletic League, the Private Schools Athletic Association, and the Manhattan Independent Schools Tennis and Golf League.
