York Preparatory School's Library and Media Center provides students with the tools necessary to develop effective information-gathering and communications skills. In the library's extensive collection, students will find print sources for research papers, book reports, or leisure reading. Our library contains 18 networked computers for classroom assignments and research.
The library's electronic card catalog, Athena, is linked to and can be accessed from each of the networked computers available in labs and classrooms. From any computer in the building, students and teachers can access information about our print collection and connect to excellent online sources.
York Prep is one of the few NYC private schools with its own television station, which operates out of the Media Center. A group of our students take turns making videos of daily announcements. These videos are then aired in each classroom during house period. Students gain public speaking and production experience while keeping fellow school members informed of daily events. As a community-minded private high school in New York City, we give our students every opportunity to collaborate and share.
With its high-bowed ceilings, ample natural light and gothic span surrounding the circulation desk, York Prep's Library and Media Center is an aesthetically pleasing and peaceful place for students to meet, read, and study.
