Academically, York Preparatory School offers a rigorous and challenging college preparatory program. In every discipline students are encouraged to set the highest possible personal benchmark, and teachers strive to foster critical thinking, confidence to pursue knowledge independently, and intellectual initiative.

In both the middle and upper schools, academic programs are organized according to a tracking system – Honors, Level I, and Level II. Placement is typically determined by past performance and by such objective indicators of ability as standardized test scores. Every effort is made to place students in appropriately challenging classes at York Prep, and student progress is routinely monitored and evaluated for accurate placement within the tracking system.

For gifted students, Advanced Placement courses may be offered.
